Question 1

How do you size an AC system for a Naples home?

Accepted Answer

With a room-by-room load calculation rather than a square-footage rule of thumb. The calculation accounts for window area, orientation, insulation, ceiling height, duct location and local design temperatures. Naples homes west of US-41 carry a heavy combined sensible and latent load, so sizing by square footage alone reliably produces either a system that cannot keep up or one that short-cycles and leaves the house feeling damp.

Question 2

Which permit authority handles a Naples AC installation?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the address. Properties inside the City of Naples are permitted through the city; addresses in unincorporated Collier County go through the county. A licensed contractor files with the correct jurisdiction before work starts, and you should expect the permit to be identified on your written proposal.

Question 3

How long does an AC installation take in Naples?

Accepted Answer

Most residential changeouts are completed in one to two days. A straightforward replacement of like-for-like equipment is typically a single day. Projects that involve duct modification, electrical upgrades, or a change in system type run longer, and we give you a realistic schedule in the proposal rather than a best-case estimate.

Question 4

Do I need a coastal-rated system near the Gulf?

Accepted Answer

It is strongly advisable within a few miles of the coast. Salt-laden air accelerates corrosion on standard aluminum fins, cabinet panels and fasteners, and coastal-rated packages with coated or polymer coil protection substantially extend service life. On a Naples property near the water we treat it as a standard recommendation, not an upsell.

Question 5

What is commissioning and why does it matter?

Accepted Answer

Commissioning is the verification step after installation. A proper install confirms refrigerant charge by subcooling and superheat, measures static pressure and airflow across the coil, tests condensate management and the float switch, and documents the readings. Those numbers become the baseline for every future service call, which is why we leave a written commissioning record rather than a verbal confirmation.
